Music Class at Magnet!

Hello and welcome to music!  My name is Mr. MacDonald, but you can call me Mr. Mac.  I am so excited to be teaching here at Magnet, and am looking forward to the great year ahead of us.  Here is some general information on how students are expected to behave, and what they will be graded on.  It also has concert dates, times, and what to wear to the concert listed at the bottom.  If you have any questions feel free to stop me and ask me on campus, or to email me!  Thanks!

The following information will guide student behavior as well as student grade

Welcome and Safe Classroom Expectations

BE SAFE                              Enter/leave the room quietly; stay in your own space;                                             No touching, bumping or hitting, even accidental.

BE RESPECTFUL                Participate appropriately in all activities; Listen when                                             Others speak; Raise hand for permission.

BE RESPONSIBLE              Play instruments and use room correctly; No distracting                                             Personal items in the room; no gum.

 

National Music Education Standards

SINGING                             Singing alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.

PERFORMING                   Performing on instruments alone and with others, a varied repertoire of                                                     Music.

IMPROVISING                  Improvising melodies, variations, and accompaniments.

COMPOSING                     Composing and arranging music within specified guidelines.

READING                           Reading and notating music.

LISTENING                         Listening to, analyzing, and describing music.

EVALUATING                    Evaluating music and music performances.

CURRICULAR                    Understanding relationships between music, the other arts, and disciplines                                                 Outside the arts.

CULTURE                           Understanding music in relation to History and Culture.
